the only thing my teachers EVER comment on in class is turnout... Spiral out! turnout from the hips! I'm just sick of it...

I'm the most advanced level.. and it still seems like thats the only thing really holding me back.

I feel like if I could just get better turnout... I could really do more..

thanks :]]

  1. work on you pleas and focus on squeezing your thighs.  here's and exercise my pointe teacher does:

-go into a strattel and roll out of it

-put your heels together to stretch your hips

-after doing that for a while, unlink your heels and press your heels as far to the ground as possible

    and another one:

-lay on your back and put your feet straight up in the air

-put your feet in 1st position, and turn your feet in and out-it stretches your hips

-do the same in 2nd position

    i hope it helps! :)

  2. Hey!.. Ive been dancing for over 14 years now. I have done ballet, tap and modern for all this time!

I get moaned at for my turnout aswell, but its really improved since my teacher taught me this exercise:

Lay on your front on the floor. Put your legs in a posistion like a 'Grand plie'. make sure your bum doesn't come of the floor.. and try and keep your feet as close to the ground as possible.. this really helped my turnout.. she doesnt moan as much now.. only when im lazy!

If that exercise didnt make sense... just tell me!.. its hard to explain! lol

    Hope i helped =]]

  3. never do this in public cause it's embarrasing but when you're walkign around the house you can be walking with your feet turned out and standing with your feet turned out that ay you can do a goooooooooooooooood ballerina turnout

  4. its a slow gradual process so you just have to stick with it.

make it a routine to do this everyday:

lie on your back and put the bottoms of your feet together and let your knees fall open. Have someone stand over you and press down on your knees/ thighs.  Have them hold it for a few minutes to really get a good stretch.. It will hurt and it will take time but it will eventually help. Also do this stretch with your feet a little further away from your butt like you are in a grand plie

Also you can do the same sort of stretch lying on your stomach in the same "frog" like position and use your own body weight and gravity to push down.

good luck! and just remember to do this everyday like its your religion. Also in class be sure to always use your rotators and butt muscles. If you show your teachers that you are at least using your muscles they may back off a little on the constant nagging of "turn out!"

    hope this helps!

  5. lay down on the floor and put bend your legs back so your feet are together and dont have someone push down on them try to do it yourself with your strength
