During my summer ballet work shop I have been working on the Woodland Glade variation and with all the hopping on point has caused bruised toe nails. There are very painful, is there anything I can do to heal them or prevent them?

All answers appreciated!

  1. dont do it

  2. what my teacher tells my class to do is put a tiny bit of water in a cup and then take an advil and disolve it in the water and pack it under your toenail. when you dance on pointe again though your bruise is going to break so be prepared for blood! hop this helps.

  3. I use the gel toe-pads and they help a lot, make sure your toenails stay short and i think theres a bruising cream that you can put on that helps. If you can, then maybe ask your dance teacher if you can sit out the pointe jumps til your feet recover. You dont want it to get worse.

    Good Luck!

  4. you should first of all get a pedicure they can help the nail heal faster and prevent them + keep your toenails short 2!

    oh...btw...are you using toe pads?

cuz the preventing of bruised nails depends mostly on the kind of toe pad u are using may personal favorites are

the Leo's Softpointe Gel Toe Pads and here's where you can get them

  5. There's very little you can do to prevent bruised toenails, other than insuring you toe padding is adequate.  I use gel pads, but at this point in my life I dance for fun.  I understand that many professional schools discourage the use of any type of padding, excluding a bit of wool.  Have you tried wrapping the individual toe with padded tape?  I did that with minimal success when I was younger.

    Good luck.

  6. okay...this is gonna sound scary...but they might fall off....but don't worry if they do...because they grow out looking just like your other nails.....

i switched pointe shoe brands for a summer intensive and that happened to me.....

and remember ...i said MIGHT ....doesn't mean definitely

to prevent it from happening again...i wrap my toes in tape....(individually) and then put a jelly thing....or some kind of extra padding around in whatever place i need it...(sometimes its the side of my toe...sometimes just the pinky toe....etc.etc.)

    hope it helps!

  7. these alleviate the pressure that causes bruised toenails..so it prevents them and it probably helps so they dont hurt when your dancing. it is a little piece of fabric with gel in the tip and it goes over your toe.

or you can go to your dance store and ask someone there if they sell anything that will help!!

    Hope this helps!! ♥
