I am starting ballet again in the fall, and i was wondering what shoes you would recommend? i have only done two s years of ballet and that was when i was, like, 7-8 years old. I practice 4 days a week in the YMCA, they let me use their studios, but i do not take classes there, YUCK! i have read A Dancers Companion and Ballet for Dummies, and i practically know EVERY move, and plus my mom was a dancer, so she helps we with things i need help with. What shoes do you recommend, full or split sole? Capezio, Bloch...OH, and i will not be taking pre-pointe classes unless i am instructed to, so i am talking about demi-pointe work here. THANKS

  1. defiantly sasha's

  2. Oooh it's great you're getting into dance again!! I love dancing too!!  I suggest split sole because you can see your arch easier, especially because you are just starting again.  I like split sole personally because it shows off your arch more.  I like capezio or grishko.  get leather too because it stretches so if your feet grow you don't have to buy a million pairs of slippers.  it also lasts longer.  go to a store and try them on too so you can see which one forms best to your feet!  good luck!

  3. ask the teacher. the full sole allows you to work your arch more, strengthening your feet. the split sole lets you move easier.

  4. okay i would recomend copenzio split sole they let you move better you sound like an awesome dancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    good luck:)

  5. Congratulations! Its fantastic that your getting back into it :)

Unfortunately I can only tell you the shoe that I like and use as I don't know what is best for your feet.

I currently use Sansha canvas split sole: http://www.sansha.com.au/images/thumbnai... (but in pink). Its a nice shoe.

And Bloch leather split sole: http://www.blochworld.com/shop/p-169-pro...

I have used other brands and styles, but I like Sansha and Bloch best.

Its best to ask your studio what shoe they want as some studios only want split sole/full sole/canvas/leather etc. From there you can then choose the best ballet shoe for you at the store.

    Good Luck :)

  6. I like split sole Bloch leather, but since you are just starting dance again, I would recommend full sole for your arch.

Good luck and hope this helps!!

  7. I danced for several years when i was younger and used full sole slippers.  I recently went back to dance and I am using split sole Sanshas and I love them.

  8. Quite frankly it all depends on what your teacher likes.  I have danced at many studios and each teacher wants their whole studio to wear the same shoe.  I personally do not a find a huge difference in the brand of shoe, either Bloch or Capezio work just fine.  The big thing is the sole and material.  Canvas shoes do not give your point much restriction, if you don't know what I mean pointe your foot in a running shoe, then bare foot.  It is obvious that pointing your foot to the limit shows best results when it is bare.  But that might not always be better, if you are just beginning ballet after a break you might want more resistance in your shoe to increase your pointe and arch.  The same principle goes into full sole or split sole.  Split sole makes you pointe look bigger and easier to maintain.  Where as full sole makes you work a tiny bit harder.  I highly recommend asking your dance instructor before purchasing your shoe.  Also try them all on and dance around the store.  You may find that certain shoes feel and look better on your foot.  Good luck, and keep dancing.

  9. shoes are different with every person. go to the store and try on several pairs and find what works the best for you.

  10. try the brand Capezio. They make VERY good quality dance shoes and specialize in pointe and ballet shoes. You can find them at any dancewear store. They last for a REALLY long time too. I am a dancer, and I take about nine classes a week. I still have shoes from two years ago! They still work and look as good as they did when I bought them!

  11. split sole, ull  look more profeshinal, i have bloch and i like em
