Question:

Ballet Stretches?

I'm fifteen and re-picking up ballet for the first time in roughly 8-9 years. I stopped when I was six or seven because I hated my instructors. Period. But recently I've sort've been yearning to start again, and I'm looking for places that will have Ballet for Beginners classes.

But anyway. Before we hit that, I DO need some help. I don't want to go into the class completely green, and hardly remember any of the stretches we did. I remember positions 1-5, so I'm good there. But what kind of stretches are good to gain flexibility back? Lunges? Butterflies? I'm kind of clueless and all I can find on the internet is a bunch of sites to find videos and books, and I don't have the extra money at the moment for them, or the time to read/watch with it being summer and summer reading and stupid assignments and such.

So anyway, despite my rambling...can anyone explain some simple stretches so I can do them in the morning and at night and gain my flexibility?

Thanks in advance!

  2. Demi/grande plies, tendus, releves.  Floor and barre stretches.  For great dance advice and ideas check out www.dance.net.  This is a great site!!

  3. look on youtube .. im sure you will find many stretches good for ballet ..

some stretches you could do often are when you sit on the floor with your legs stretched out and you try to put your nose on your knee without bending your legs ..

i dont know what its called but a good one for ballet would be to sit on the floor with your legs bent and turnt out .. in like a frog position lol .. i dnt know how to explain ... and try and reach your nose to the floor .. u can then gradually move your feet closer to you .. this will help improve your turnout.

heres a video i found on youtube that may help :)
