  1. First of all keep both legs turned out and point the leg that is in arabesque. Keep your chin up and back straight. Also,  keep your shoulders squared off.

  2. Work on the turn out on the lifting leg in your arabesque because it will give it the proper extension in the leg. This will make it look much better even if you have a low lift. To do this there are several points to think about. Think of your leg as a corkscrew twisting your leg from the top and make sure your knee is facing out not down to the floor, that is a good measure of your turnout.

Another way to get a more professional and strong arabesque is to really stretch the leg with the most extension you can. Try and really tense the muscle just above the knee cap. You can find it but just tickling there.

And don't forget about your feet. the corkscrew I talked about before reaches all the way to the feet. Make sure your pointing the feet. The top of the foot must be looking out just like the knee not down towards the floor.

It take a lot of practise and power in your legs to get a good looking arabesque but these small pointers can put you on your way to something brilliant

Just keep working at it :)

  3. Try not to lean forward because that can lose your balance. Work on your splits so therefore your more flexible. And focus on one point, you will not move if you focus on that.

  4. i dont know what that is but the moonwalk is a very impressive move

  5. My grade 2 dancers are going through the same phase as you.Unfortunately a better looking arabesque only comes with practice. Concentrate on your turnout and soft arm lines. The front arm should be at approx 45 degrees up from shoulder level with you looking out along it and the other arm is at 2nd or just behind and lower(depending on grade). the height of the leg doesn't really matter but it should be between 45 & 90 degrees straight and pointed.now start slightly pulling towards your front arm very slightly. Good luck and keep practicing.

  6. Well, drop your arabesque and then make sure it is straight, don't throw your arms too high unless the choreography calls for it.

  7. first work on bending your upper back when you are in arabesque. at first it will make your leg sink lower but when your flexability catches up it will look alot better. and remember to lengthen your arm and look over the tips of your fingers

  8. point your back foot, and make sure your legs are straight. squeeze your shoulder blades, and try to keep your back straight (dont lean forward). also, look at a point slightly above your front hand. you should feel a muscle along the side of your back. keep your turn out as well.

  9. Try to stretch yourself.Imagine thet you are in a small room and your trying to touch the walls with your hands and toes. Also stretch more upwards(your torso i mean) this will give you a lovely line.I told this to my teacher in front of my class and my teacher was so impressed about it that she now tells it to every student she has! Hope this helps you!
