im moving ballet schools and cant understand which group to join as i didn't do grades at my old place but did plenty of pointe work etc. there are 2 possible groups - grade 7 or intermediate? because intermediate does pointe work and grade 7 does not, does that made intermediate a harder/higher grade? its too confusing, please help? x

  1. OK well the type of ballet that this school does by the sounds of it is RAD. the RAD has two different examination processes grades and majors. grade 7 is part of the grade examinations and Intermediate is a major exam. they are both equivalent in difficultly. none of the grades have pointe work it is only the majors. generally those who are doing grade 7 normally do Intermediate as well. the majors you have to do to become a professional dancer or teacher and grades 6, 7 and 8 are considered professional grades. i hope that this helps. happy dancing and good luck! =)

  2. Intermediate is a higher grade than 7. I'm guessing that they do RAD? You should really just look at both classes and see what suits you most. Maybe even calling up your old Ballet school and see what equivalent grade you were doing.

If you find that the class your doing is too easy/hard you can always swap.

    I hope this helps :)
