Ballet in staten island for a boy?

I'm kinda being made to take ballet lessons, but i don't mind it just embarrassed about it, what ill have to wear and all that?could u tell me about any good places to go around Staten island or new york city? and if so what is it like, what will have to wear, are they strict? anything u could tell me?

omg guys in ballet always go far bcuz its rare to have guys in dance. you can get scholarships and many different things. u r in one of the best places 2 b 4 dancing

just look around and ull definately find some good ballet schools

well,

im in ballet.

it depends where you go.

some will make you wear just sweatpants..and some serious people will make you wear tights and ballet slippers!

but, im sure if your just starting out with ballet that your parents wont take you to a real strict ballet place.

NY is FULL of great dance studios like Steps on Broadway, School of American Ballet, Joffrey, ABT (all 3 of which are very prestigious and by audition only), and many others.

At any respectable studio you will be wearing tights, a dance belt (like a cross between a cup and underwear), a tight tshirt, and ballet slippers. Your teacher shouldn't be too strict, but he or she should also keep order in the class and give corrections to the students. It will be VERY hard at first because there are so many steps and movements to learn, and each of those has a French name. You will also have to learn technique, which is things like turning out, pointing your feet, pulling up, using your core, etc. Despite what you might think, ballet is EXTREMELY hard, and I have found that the better you get, the harder you find out it really is. Everything has to be precise and beautiful but strong and fierce. You will be sore in places you didn't know existed.

Despite all of that, ballet is amazing and wonderful and really fun. I love it, and I could never give up dancing. Have fun and good luck!

sorry this isnt really answering but are they putting you in it cuz you play football? you'll probably have to wear ballet shoes and tights im not sure!
