Ballet pointe question?

Yesterday was my first day with my strings and elastics sewn on my pointe shoes and one exercise i had big trouble with was when she had us walk on our toes close together all the way down the bar. And my legs were shaking like the top of my thighs and my legs just kept giving out and i had to stop. Is this because i wasn't meant to do this or its just because I'm not really used to it yet. will my mussels get used to it?

  1. Everyone is shakey at first.

    I didnt start with walking.

Just ask if you can do something to help strengthen your legs like rise and hold. You cant really go straight into walking.

Has your teacher told you to do any exercises.

I was given therbands that you put under your foot and you have to flex your foot. You can get different strengths of band and it helps strengthen the foot.

You should get some, they'll really help you!

I'll put a link to a website with them on for you in the sources part.

  2. Yeah you should get used to it

try practicing at home just to basic stuff like going going up and down on pointe etc for 5mins aday and that should strenghthen up your feet give it a bit of time but mabe just check with your teacher that your shoes are right fitting . etc

    Good Luck

  3. ur prob not ready yet

  4. yes you most deffinitly will get used to it. i remember that feeling. my legs used to shake really bad and it hurt soo bad.once the nerves in you toes get used to the pressure being put on them the pain will be relieved.   trust me ive only been en pointe for 2 and 1/2 years and by the end of my first summer en pointe i was totally used to it. just remember dont sit in ur pointe shoe pull up and out of the shoe!

  5. I had the SAME problem, except I also had a bleeding blister on my toe, which made it MORE painful lol. Yes it's just because you're just starting. You'll get used to it! Good luck. :)

  6. considering that is a very simple and well known step, and you dont know what the name of it is, I'm contemplating wether you should be on pointe at all? You obviously havent been doing ballet that long.

however to answer ur question, i believe you are having troubble with boure and thats always difficult. it will come naturally eventually. i have been on pointe for over 6 years and that ones still tough for me.

  7. Well you're new at it so it's  going to be diffucult , maybe your muscles need to be a bit stronger, so work on it!

  8. yeah, just practise and break in your shoe really well!! its hard at the first time!

    keep going!=)

  9. Practice at home at helps, I played soccer for 6 years before I started

dance and I went up on pointe in the middle of my second year and I think that it really help my muscle in my legs. keep hanging in their!!!

I hurts like I have no idea what but it rocks!!!!

  10. i do pointe and the first time i did it i fell because i was shaking so much. i almost broke my ankle but luckily i didn't. i takes a lot of practice and concentration. if i were you...take like 5 min a day to wear them and just walk around to break them in. it helped me and i hope it will help you.
