  1. Since it's a beginner class, you shouldn't be expected to know the entire history and terms of ballet.

However, you should look through online sites and see the basic positions of your legs and arms, which really help you.

    Also, what you should have:

Leotard (color is usually black but all schools are different)

    Tights

    Ballet slippers

And if you want, you should take a short jacket, skirt or shorts to wear over top.

Remember that ballet is knowing how your body moves and if you cover up everything, it's going to be hard for you to see stuff. So short shorts or skirts, camisoles or short jackets.

  2. just to clarify this: this is not like a professional company, like aba, and if it is, study french termionalgy. learn you feet and arm positions, and the proper way to do turns, etc. if you go into class unprepared, yo will struggle, especially when you are starting at 13

  3. well it's a beginner class so they probably aren't expecting you to know too much so don't stress about it. just pay attention to what they tell you in class and you'll be fine.

    best of luck!

  4. Go to your local library and look in

books that deal with ballet like teaching,

    usage, etc.

    That should help you out.
