Ballet question..?

When I was younger, I did ballet for about 4 years and I considered myself pretty good. I'm fifteen years old now and I so desperately want to get back into ballet but I wonder if I'm too old... 'cause I know the really good dancers start out at like 3 years old! Are the other dancers that are my age that have been dancing for so long too far ahead of me for me to even try it again? Like am I just too far gone to get up to their level? Please help me !

Gracias.

  1. You are never too old to dance.  Check out the history of Martha Graham.  http://www.time.com/time/time100/artists...

I say, good luck to you!  Work hard and you will be fantastic.

  2. There's no age you have to be to start ballet. If you want to dance professionally and be in a company, then yes, you may be to young, but it's no too late to dance. If you work hard and have a desire to learn and progress, there's no reason why you won't do great!

I hope you decide to start dancing again =)

  3. Rightio,

    I am a dancer and have been since 1998 i was 3

    im only 13 now,

you definitley arent too old. unless you want to become some legendary ballerina but you can still become really good!

i have friends who started ballet this year who are amazing

so it really depends on how good you still are.

As long as you practise practise practise and know all of your basics i am sure you will be fine.

Dont go to some amazing dance school straight off, go to a pretty nice leniant one i'd also join a mixed age class like 10-16 where you can still fit in and socialise while not having to be fantastic straight away

um. well u need to stretch and stretch and stretch before getting back into it.

    so i suggest u start now :)

then if u do ballet buy a theory booklet with all the terms in it

memorise them as best you can.

if u need help with plies and arabesque and stuff get together with other friends who are dancers and let them teach you

u will feel comfortable around them :)

    good luckxx

  4. I am 23 and never danced before. I am taking ballet level 1 in college this upcoming semester. So I do not think you are too old to start dancing. I think you should see if a dance teacher can evaluate your skills now and place you in an appropriate dance level class. I hope this helps and good luck.

  5. My sister is now 20 and has graduated from college with a degree in dance.  She started ballet when she was 16.  I also started ballet when I was 13.  It is never too late to start.  Even if it means having some extra private lessons with the teacher, you can do it.

  6. considering uve done it b4 and so had my sister she started again when she was 15 and she was almost as good as me (ive been dancing since 3 and i am a highly commended dancer) but she didnt work hard enuf she slacked off and quit again. no worries if u start again and work hard enuf u should be caught up in no time now if ur dance school uses the cecchetti usa ballet program i would suggest taking grade 3/4 depending on the averae age of the kids in tht class
