Ballet trouble I want to be more flexible ?

I started ballet when I younger but ended when i was 7 so i lost some of my flexibility.I going to start again, i can nearly do the splits are there any websites or stretches that can make me more flexible ?

  1. Practice your over splits which are when you have one leg on a chair and the other on the ground. Sit in a split position. Don't force it. It will take time


  2. do a full stretch everyday or even twice a day. i try to stretch at least once a day so i can stay flexible and also gain flexibilty. make sure you dont just plop down into your splits, go through every stretch that you can remember.


  3. to get your splits hold them everyday for a minute for a week and your split will be 1 inch closer to the ground.  2 min/day= 2 in/wk. etc.

  4. Get help from your ballet teacher or if you know of anyone that has done ballet for a while you can ask them for help.  

  5. I suggest you wait til you start and have the ballet instructor help you. Otherwise you may pull a muscle and hurt your self.

  6. i have been a ballet dancer since i was 2. even i have been dancing since i as little i still get stiff and i could be more flexible. the only tricks i now is for sure to stretch everyday for like 5 minutes or more. and also to have high extensions with your leg you don't need a split. also in your split just breathe it will help you.

  7. Just do the stretches you do at dance at home too. Everyday. Morning and night and whenever you have the time.

    pushing your self and holding splits

    really long help. an exercise i like to

    do that hurts alot, but i see a difference

    is, find a chair and sit on the floor in

    front of it, facing it, place your front leg

    on the very edge of the seat and keep

    your back leg on the floor, and push until

    you feel a stretch, make sure not to push

    yourself too far, until your body is ready,

    maybe start by holding it for like 15 seconds,

    rest then hold it for 20, then 30, slowly but

    gradually get bigger, but make sure your
