Ballroom Dancing Competitions?

How long should you have done ballroom dancing before you go into competitions and what levels should you of done..eg: Street Latin Bronze Bar...

  1. You can go to competitions with no experiance atall--- you just have to enter the ametur or beginner sections


  2. How long you wait before you go into competitions is completely up to you. I've been dancing for 7 years and still don't compete (although this is mostly due to the fact that I am unable to find a partner despite 3 years of searching). Since you're 15, you'd probably be in the Youth catagory in competitions. The best way to find out about competitions is to talk to your instructor. They will know what competitions would be suitable for you, will be able to assist you in finding a partner, and depending on whether you are taking group or private lessons, will be able to help you with choreography. Hope this helps.

  3. Are you taking group lessons or private lessons?  Either way, you should talk to your coach/teacher.  They should know about upcoming competitions, and they should also be able to tell you whether or not you're ready to compete at whichever level you're qualified for.
