Hi

ok this year I'm doing My Latin gold in medals

We are finally allowed to choose our songs.

I was looking for some more recent music

I'm just really looking for songs with the right beat as i can speed them up or slow them down myself

I need one for jive samba rumba and cha cha

Some websites would also be great with lists

Also I'm doing my New Vouge as well and i also get to choose my music

I need some music for The Tracey lee, Evening 3 step and the elfa waltz (modern waltz music)

These don't have to be recent but i still would like some good music

Names and artist would be good

or even better websites with lists

Thank you in advance

  1. Go to DanceAxis.com. Sign up and search for user "ConTiempo". Send them a quick message. I think they are a dance company that specializes in your style.

    Best Regards,

  2. Right

I need one for jive samba rumba and cha cha

    Jive -

Candyman by Christian Aguilera is an excellent suggestion as it is very current. Otherwise, She's My Man by The Scissor Sisters might be an interesting choice.

Footloose by Kenny Loggins, Johnny B. Goode or Teenage Wedding (from Pulp Fiction) are slightly older but also good choices.

    Samba -

Mas Que Nada, the new one by The Black Eyed Peas is a good choice. Also, 'I Don't Feel Like Dancing' by the Scissor Sisters, It Had Better Be Tonight by Michael Buble or something by Ricky Martin or Gloria Estefan!

    Rumba -

How about 'She's Like the Wind' from Dirty Dancing, or Quando Quando Quando, Michael Buble and Nelly Furtado?

Cha cha cha - there are loads to choose from as most pop songs are written in 4/4 time. A personal favourite is Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones.

I suggest you check out the 'Dancing with the Stars' websites from all different countries. The follwing website gives details of all the songs danced to on Strictly Come Dancing (the UK version) over the past few years.

  3. YAY!!!! A fellow dancer who does New Vogue (there are not many of us on answers)

With New Vogue its probably best to ask your teacher for options as not many songs have the right timing and phrasing for new vogue, your teacher will probably have a large collection of new vogue songs.

Some of my fav jives include:

    Candyman (Christina Aguleira)

Grease Lightning (timing would have to be slightly changed on this one)

    Saturday nights alright (Elton John)

Long tall sally (Cant remember who sings it sorry)

    Cha cha's:

    s*x Bomb (Tom Jones)

Its in his kiss (Lots of different versions)

    Love potion No. 9

    Unchain my heart

    Rumba:

    Goldeneye (Tina Turner)

    Bleeding love (leona Lewis)

    Imagine (The Beatles)

These were all I could think of off the top of my head sorry

    Good luck!!!

  4. Woohoo! I do New Vogue too! :) Anyway:

    Jive:

    Candyman - Christina Aguleira

    Rockin' Robin - Michael Jackson

Jack is Back - The Clan (My all time favourite jive song EVER!)

Zoot Suit Riot - Cherry Poppin' Daddies

    Samba:

Dum Diddly - Black Eyed Peas

Hey Mama - Black Eyed Peas

    La Bomba - Ricky Martin

    Rumba:

    The Difference - Matchbox Twenty

The Man In The Mirror - Michael Jackson

Ever The Same - Rob Thomas

She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5

    Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis

    Cha cha:

    Roll Over DJ - Jet

Makes Me Wonder - Maroon 5

Lady Marmalade - Moulin Rogue Soundtrack

    s*x Bomb - Tom Jones

    Kiss - Tom Jones

The Way I Are - Timbaland

I have lots of Cha cha music cos my latin technique instructor loves cha cha. As for New Vogue, it's probably best to ask your instructor if you can have a look through their music collection and have them help you pick some good songs.
