Ballsmania Cup week four preview: heats five and six
Nottingham will host the fourth week of the Ballsmania Cup Friday. Six charities will look to raise money by selling tickets to the event. Each charity will be assigned a trap number, and earn points based on how well the hounds from that trap finish. The
charity with the most points after six races will be invited back to the Ballsmania Cup final on 19 November.
Ballsmania Cup Leg 5 (A7)
Howdidodad hasn’t won a race since 29 June, but is usually in the top three. She’ll race from trap one, and will probably be the long shot of the race. She could be a good gamble if the odds are long enough.
In trap two is Derryhogan Dearg, a rookie racer with only two races so far. Avoid betting on her unless you’re feeling really lucky.
In trap three is Pitol Ratty, winner of two straight A8 races. Despite the recent victories don’t expect another win here. Not only is this an A7 race, but before her two wins she had 10 straight bottom three finishes.
Swift Adel will race from trap four. After racing in A6 races for the better part of the year, Adel moved to A7 in his last race. He won that race by a shoulder, and has a good chance of winning this one as well.
Cockers Lady will go from trap five. She’s consistently in the top three, but rarely wins.
Corleones Bazini has shown dazzling speed in the past, but he has recently been over taken in the late stages of races. He’s been racing in A6 races, and the move to A7 should put him in one of the top two spots of this race. He’ll go from trap six.
Ballsmania Cup Leg 6 (A7)
In trap one is Yippekaiyeah, a young racer who hasn’t won in nine career races. Don’t expect a breakthrough in this race.
Another young racer, Roscoes Nailedon, will race from trap two. She’s won three times in 10 career races, and has been racing in A6 races of late. There’s a good chance she’ll win this A7 race.
Lukes Domino has won two of his past three races, and will try to win again from trap three. He’s not the strongest racer in the second half of a long race, but if the odds are long enough, he could provide a big payout.
In trap four is Toolmakers Sal. She’s won once in her past 13 races, and is often in the bottom three. Betting on Sal to place might be an option, but don’t expect her to win.
Dunham Class is another win-less rookie. She finished fifth in her last race, and will probably see similar results on Friday. She’ll race from trap five.
In trap six is Salscres Demi. She’s good with the lead, but rarely has it. In seven career races, she has one win, but has only finished in the bottom three twice in those races. Still, Demi will probably be the only hound to challenge Roscoes.
