Ballybrook thrives in 480m Grade A1 Heat at Sittingbourne on Jan 29
The spectators saw Ballybrook topping the chart in a 480 metre long Grade A1 race at Sittingbourne on Sunday, January 29, 2012.
The black dog was favourite with odds of 7 to 4. However, he could not dominate the proceedings, and put in an extra effort to outclass the rest.
Ace Hi Rumble’s son out of Stole The Show, covered the area in 29.26 seconds, winning the heat just by a head’s margin.
It was a very close contest, but Ballybrook’s strong finish earned him a cash prize of £100.
Murlens Union, trained by G Andreas, finished second on the table. The fawn dog was carrying the chances of 9 to 2, breaking in from the second stall.
His early pace helped him to take the lead at the start, but a classy finish by Ballybrook, pushed him down to the runner-up position.
Express Ego’s son out of Murlens Madrid crossed the wire in 29.28 seconds.
It was a blanket finish, as the third placed hound was just a short head’s distance adrift of the runner-up. Mohane Rebel, finished third on the chart, making it to the post in 29.29 seconds.
Holding the winning chances of 2 to 1, the black dog, trained by D P Brabon, kicked off the competition from the fourth trap.
Full House, who finished 4th on the day was running close to the top 3 throughout the race, as he fell short by a mere head’s margin.
His starting price was 6 to 1, stepping out on the track from the first trap. Full House took 29.31 seconds to conclude the event.
Hollyoak Shelina, carrying the betting chances of 6 to 1, managed to lock the fifth spot on the table. It took her 29.53 seconds to finish the party, after leaving the sixth stall.
Misusethetruth completed the order of finish, reaching the post in 29.57 seconds. The black dog, Droopys Vieri’s son out of Kodo, was the least favourite hound in the contest, carrying the winning possibility of 14 to 1.
It was a great comeback by Ballybrook, who finished fifth in his previous outing earlier this month.
The high profile hound has been exhibiting a fine show this year, and the connections would look to maintain consistency.
