Ballygree Romeo in for a hat-trick through the Betfred ‘Home Of The Big Winners’ Trophy
The most interesting and lightly raced entry for the Betfred ‘Home Of The Big Winners’ Trophy is the three-year-old, Ballygree Romeo. The 480 metres flat race will be staged at Nottingham on Wednesday, 18th July. The five others contesting for the £200 are Miss Slick, Nastasi, Judicial Academy, Milestone Apache and Bucks Blade.
Black Shaw’s three-year-old black son progressed drastically through the four career starts. He never ranked below the first three places, finished second in the career debut, held on to the third position in the next and then struck a back-to-back.
On 1st June, 2012, Ballygree Romeo scored second in a 435 metres race. The race was won by Get On Gina who concluded the race in 26.24 seconds with 3 ½ lengths under his belt.
The C. Bloomfield trained took his second chance in a 261 metres race at Sunderland on 15th June, 2012. Taking 16.58 seconds to reach the other end of the wire was, Home Charlie.
The three-year-old out of b***h, Inslipsvalentine, made the most from his third outing of the season. He raced from the middle after breaking from the sixth gate and then led on from the second position. The black dog set the race in 28.25 seconds and set Blazedale Bullet second by the margin of 5 ½ lengths.
In order to retain the consistency in the performance, the three-year-old was drilled over 450 metres at Sunderland on 29th  June, 2012. He accomplished the distance in 27.56 seconds.
The training did prove effective as the black hound won the Betfred ‘Home Of The Big Winners’ Maiden 480 on 9th July, 2012 at Nottingham over 480 metres. Ballygree Romeo led first after taking off from the fifth stall and then made it to the wire in 29.12 seconds.
Finishing the closest after leaping through the 2 ¾ lengths gap was Fabulous Vera who timed the track distance in 29.34 seconds. The evening’s favourite, Droopys Felipe, ended fourth after racing for 29.82 seconds.
It has been just once after the training session that the three-year-old has raced and has concrete chances of being the first one through the wire tonight.
