Ballygree Romeo with explosive chances in the Stadium Bookmakers 480 metres Gents Trophy Heat 1
Not all the entries for the first heat of the Stadium Bookmakers 480 metres Gents Trophy have raced at the open level before. For Burnpark Sparky, Corduff Star and Coolemount Flyer, the race will serve as the debut attempt at the open level. With some reasonable backing at the level are, Dinoco Blue and Ballygree Romeo.
The 480 metres flat race will be hosted by Nottingham on Monday, 5th November. The winner will get his share from the total prize money of £150.
Ballygree Romeo kick started the season in June, 2012, the three-year-old has raced at Sunderland, Nottingham and Newcastle over varying distances. His career’s first attempt at the open level was in the Betfred ‘Home Of The Big Winners’ Maiden 480 on 9th July, 2012 at Nottingham over 480 metres.
Racing in the orange vest, he represented the fifth box, and was the first among the rest of the lot to make it to the other end of the wire. It took him 29.12 seconds to complete the trip and, he led by 2 ¾ lengths.
Coming at terms with the second position was, Fabulous Vera.
His next, and until yet the last time that he downed a Grade OR event was on 3rd September, 2012 in the Stadium Bookmakers 480 metres Trophy – Heat 2 at Nottingham over 480 metres.
The C. Bloomfield trained put forth his versatility by winning the race from a different box this time. The race was not effortless as Black Shaw’s son first had to break free from the crowd and traffic that surrounded him, and then took command of the track from the first position.
He clocked the track distance in 28.96 seconds, and cornered Slick Signature into the second position while leading by 2 ¼ lengths.
The three-year-old has remained deprived of success ever since the last four outings. He has the chance today with the same distance, track and box which leaves him with almost no excuse of not exploiting the opportunity.
The level of competition too is not the top-class sort, rather there are entries whom he can intimidate easily.
