Ballyhack Golf Club continues to bring improvements, as it expands its area– Golf News
The Fountainhead Land Co. has confirmed the acquisition of 25 acres of land, adjoining its Roanoke County's Ballyhack Golf Club, in order to protect it from the nearby plans of developing it into a residential area.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, by the company's director of sales, Van Renick.
He stated that the club wanted to protect its view from the high-end course, which was in danger of being spoiled by the development of mobile homes, trailer pads, etc.
"We wanted to own the property to protect our approach view-wise, which is very important to us," Renick said.
"Out here in the rural areas, somebody can come in and develop trailer pads, mobile home sites. That's something we couldn't allow to happen”.
He went on to say that their primary concern was avoiding extra outside construction.
In addition to that, the firm plans to add some new residential area near the golf course, which would add to the beauty of the course and provide state-of-the-art living facilities for the players visiting the golf club.
Renick also told that the club has stopped offering memberships to the local players. In fact, there is now a concept of waiting list.
Players from all across the country now visit the club three to four times a year and stay in a cottage, at least 50 miles away from the club.
"Guys come, rent the cottages, stay a couple of nights, golf till they drop, eat all their meals at the clubhouse and they almost never leave the property," Renick said.
"They just recharge the batteries, have a great time and then return a few months later".
Ballyhack Golf Club is considered to be one of the most prestigious golf clubs all over the world. It was listed among the best new courses in the 2009 list of the Golf Magazine and Links Magazine.
In addition to that, the club officials opened a new 11,400-square-feet clubhouse last year, built with billions of dollars.
Therefore, the decision of expanding the area of the course would definitely add to the beauty and importance of the course among golf lovers.
