Ballyhoe Fifty upsets Black Mix in the 380m Grade A2 race at Crayford

Ballyhoe Fifty upsets Black Mix to take victory in the 380 metres Grade A2 race at Crayford on Friday, January 27, 2012. Despite not being the favourite, he thundered his way to the finish line, winning a cash prize of £133.
The triumphant greyhound has been a touch inconsistent over the past few events, but he bounced back pretty decently this time around. He was given a starting price of 4 to 1 by the bookmakers, which indicated that he had the potential to fight for
victory.
This was exactly what Ballyhoe Fifty did, as he covered the race distance in 23.70 seconds, after breaking in from trap number five. He had gained terrific momentum at the start and there was no looking back from then onwards.
The J. J Luckhurst trained dog is the son of Droopys Kewell out of Frontier Music, and was born in July, 2009. He was the only dog to participate in the race whereas all the other entries were b*****s.
Black Mix, favourite to win the race with a starting price of 2 to 1, was unable to match the speed of the race winner. She did have a clear run, but was unable to get off to a quick start, which cost her time in the end.
The J. M. Carter trained hound completed the overall distance in 23.88 seconds, after popping out from trap number two. She was born in June 2009, and is the daughter of Black Shaw out of Ready Mix.
Third place went to Isaweverything, trained by P. J. Cusack. She also had a clear run, but did not have the speed to match the top two greyhounds. Her starting price was 6 to 1, which was the lowest off all the participants in the race.
Isaweverything is the daughter of Boherduff Light out of I Saw, and was born in March, 2008.
Balbec Minnie, another greyhound trained by Luckhurst, completed the race in fourth place, after entering from trap number three. She was given a starting price of 3 to 1, but was unable to make an impression.
The fourth placed b***h is the daughter of Big Daddy Cool out of Minnies Miranda, and was born in October, 2007.
Final two places went to Gortakilleen Gal and Blacknomilk, who failed to come anywhere close to the top four.
The short distance races are always exciting, as speed is involved in them. They are always a treat to watch for the spectators.
