Ballylaw Brown steals a big victory in A4 race at Nottingham
The six greyhounds that participate in the action-filled 500m races at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium run so fast, some might think that they’ve committed a robbery of some kind. Each dog
runs their fastest in an attempt to steal a victory, but only one of them can do so.
Ballylaw Brown (5-1) was successful in stealing a victory from the competition in A4 race that began another exciting day of races at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium. Coming out of trap one,
he crowded first, but rebounded to lead the run in and finish with a time of 31.60 seconds. Second place went to Droopys Affair (3-1), who moved slowly away from the pack and baulked first. Despite that, he completed the race in 31.72, which was 1½ lengths
behind the winner.
Salacres Pedro, the 8-1 long shot, surprised many with his third-place finish. An early pace from trap six allowed him to lead the run in, and he finished just a head’s length out of second
place. Dainty Swift (4-1) experienced some difficulty in this race, as she badly baulked first. She would go on to finish fourth in 31.85, 1½ lengths out of the top three.
The fifth-place finisher was Capla Gold (3-1), who also badly baulked first, losing eight lengths in the process en route to a 32.49 finish. Keljo Tadita, the 5-2 favourite, experienced
more difficulty than any of the other racers. She badly baulked and stumbled at first, and may have sustained an injury in the process. Her finishing time was 34.89.
Next on the card was an A3 race. Romeo Orourke (6-1) emerged as the winner with an early pace from trap five. He would go on to lead first and finish the race in 31.11. A clear run gave
11-4 long shot Clover Luck a surprising second-place finish in 31.33, which was 2¾ lengths out of the top spot. Jostmar Charlie, the 7-4 favourite, crowded first and third, but still managed a top-three finish. Her time of 31.45 was 1½ lengths behind Clover
Luck, giving her third place.
Fourth place was claimed by Gowlane Bluebell (7-1), who missed the top three by a head with her 31.46 finish. La Barola (7-2) placed fifth in 31.74, crowding third on the way to the finish
line. She was 3½ lengths behind fourth place with a time of 31.74. The sixth and final position went to Salacres Lanny (4-1), who crowded and fell first to finish in 34.14.
Will Ballylaw Brown continue to steal wins away from the competition? Find out when the races at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium resume on Wednesday 13 October. The first race of the evening
begins at 19:25.
