Ballylifen to dominate the Haygain Hay Steamers - Clean Healthy Hay Maiden Hurdle on 8th April, 2012
Towcester will host the Haygain Hay Steamers - Clean Healthy Hay Maiden Hurdle today, 8th April, 2012.
15 runners will race over 2 miles and 5 furlongs for a purse of £1,949, on a surface that has been labelled good.
Ballylifen, the five-year-old gelding has maintained his consistency in the last four races. Trained by Henrietta Knight for owner, Toby Cole, the runner is expected to break through all the barriers and finish first.
This season, the son of Brian Boru, out of mare Line Jade, competed in three starts and finished as a runner-up in all three of them. This race will give him an opportunity to break out of his consistency and claim the much deserved
victory.
He finished second to race favourite, Up To Something, by an immense margin of nine lengths in the Thermolast Roofing Ltd Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at Hereford on 8th January, 2012, where he was paired with jockey, Dominic Elsworth.
Teamed with the same jockey, this time he fell short of the victory by a much narrower distance of 2 lengths to the winner, Brough Academy, in the Chancelloroftheformchecker.co.uk "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle at Fontwell on 27th January, 2012.
Ridden by Will Kennedy in the Call Star Sports On 08000 521321 "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle at Plumpton on 12th March, 2012, he came close to the victory but missed it by a narrow margin of ½ length to the Alan King trained Diamond Sweeper.
In this race, he will be racing under jockey Will Kennedy again, hoping that this time he will be able to make-up the small margin and emerge victorious.
Apart from his performance in the last race, Brass Tax is entering the race with bright prospects. The bay gelding is trained by Ben Case for owner, Mrs. Carolyn Kendrick. He had a long shot in the Grade 1 Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle (Registered
As Baring Bingham Novices' Hurdle) at Cheltenham on 14th March, 2012 as he finished in fifteenth place.
He finished as a runner-up in the TurfTV Novices' Hurdle, which took place at Market Rasen on 19th February, 2012. He missed the victory by a narrow margin of 1 ¼ lengths to Fiulin.
Ballylifen may be able to bag the victory and finally break out of his consistent standing. Brass Tax may be able to bring his best performance on the track and finish as a runner-up.
