Ballymac Eske well on his way to stardom
The time in which Burnpark’s two-year-old fawn dog, Ballymac Eske, landed the Grade OR Betfred Eclipse Trial Stakes was regarded as ‘normal’. The second trap was entered as the favourite candidate for the race, and came at par with the expectations when he clocked the track distance in 29.21 seconds.
He set the track record after breaking into an early high gear and maintaining the lead for the rest of the distance. He was through with the challenge in 29.21 seconds. Winning by the margin of 4 ¼ lengths meant that Holdem Spy had to make peace with the second position. Getting baulked when racing in the first position cost him the race.
The B. Draper trained is now all set with his preparation for the £8,000 Eclipse which has the entries closing in on Monday, 12th November. He has successfully clocked 29.21 seconds at Nottingham before, so the time in which he won the trial is not surprising anymore.
The two-year-old fawn dog is undefeated in the last seven outings. He has raced at the open level undisputed ever since 13th August. He has conquered over 500 metres, 515 metres and 480 metres at Nottingham and Hove ever since the same date.
The beginning of his seven winning streak took off on 13th August, 2012 in the Caffreys Puppy Classic – Heat 4 over 500 metres. The first trap was quick to set into a high gear, and keep up with the leading role for almost the entire trip. He was done in 29.55 seconds, beating the rest of the lot by six lengths.
The two-year-old out of, Ballymac Penske, bagged the £175 prize money in the Coral Greyhound Olympic – Heat 6 on 13th September, 2012 at Hove over 515 metres.
He once again broke from the red trap, shifted to the middle from the rail, and was quick to take command of the track that he destroyed in 29.39 seconds. The favourite winner led by an amazing 7 ¾ lengths, and set Droopys Xavier, as the runner-up.
His unprecedented success is the outcome of his own potential coupled with the ability of the connections to tap it just in the right directions and for the right events.
