Ballymac Eske’s shock elimination from Betfred Eclipse, no need to press panic button
Big hounds sometimes face big shocks, and this is what happened to Ballymac Eske at Nottingham a few days ago. In the very first round of the Betfred Eclipse, the fawn dog suffered an embarrassing defeat, finishing fourth on the table.
Heat 6 saw Ballymac Eske enjoying the highest odds of 4 to 11, followed by the 5-2 second favourite, Mags Gamble. Both giants were expected to dominate the proceedings and make it to the next round with ease.
Mags Gamble lived up to the expectations, and captured the first place by three and a quarter lengths. On the other hand, Ballymac Eske, who got crowded in the beginning, was expected to seize at least the second place. But he did not do any damage.
B. Draper’s superstar baulked at the second bend, and could not do anything special thereafter. As a result, he could only finish fourth, wasting all his chances to quality for the second round.
Ballymac Eske entered the championship as favourite, and his shameful loss in the first round was a huge surprise for the greyhound racing lovers. There is no need to push the panic button, because such unlucky events do take place in the career.
The great hounds learn a lesson from their mistakes, and Ballymac Eske is expected to do the same. B. Draper is an experienced handler, and should not face any difficultly in training his big star for the big future wins.
It was just an unlucky event for the September-10 hound, and his supporters should not be worried just because of one loss. The fawn dog has been producing excellent results since the start of his career. Ahead of facing the Betfred Eclipse loss, the big
fellow recorded eight straight wins. His track record is good enough to prove that he is one of the best hounds these days.
His ability to do well in different conditions is matchless. Prior to his two good wins at Nottingham in October Ballymac Eske won three straight races at Hove. He has also shown his magic at Monmore, Sheffield, Wimbledon and Hall Green. There is no doubt
over his ability to roar back, and his fans will surely see him doing this very soon.
