Ballyoliver having big say in Betfair. Don´t Settle For Less Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase at Wetherby
Betfair. Don´t Settle For Less Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase is one of the several major events, taking place on the Boxing Day. The Grade 3 meeting has attracted nine high-profile entries, but most of the participants, except Ballyoliver, surely have a
few questions to answer.
Unlike majority, the 8-year-old does not have a question-mark about his present form. The Venetia Williams-trained is performing very consistently these days, and looks to be in great shape following an improved act last time out. Off this mark, he marvellously
notched up the second place at Catterick last week.
Having shown a great act under testing conditions, the bay gelding looks open to improvement on surface he handles. Owned by Richard Britten-Long, the son of Kayf Tara made his seasonal comeback in mid November, when taking the runner-up place at Ludlow.
He built on that, and bagged the first prize at the start of this month.
The audience at Newbury saw him grabbing the top prize in the Sportingbet Amateur Riders' Handicap Chase. In the hands of Mr W. Biddick, he remained in total command all the way through, eventually seizing the first rank by half a length.
The R. R. Evans-bred handles testing ground very well, and he proved this ability last time, when finishing second to Harris Hawk in the Buy Your 2013 Annual Badge Today Handicap Chase. He made a strong finish to capture the second place, missing the gold
medal only by two and a quarter lengths.
Over a distance of three miles and one furlong, the competition is for a prize of £22,780. The officials are due to kick off the affair at 13:45 GMT. Cape Tribulation is enjoying good odds. The Malcolm Jefferson-trained flopped awfully on the seasonal comeback,
but holds good claims on the best chase form.
Mr Moonshine needs to leave his latest tame run behind to play a role. The ground is another concern for the Shane Byrne-trained. Zitenka was below best lately, but holds a good record here. On a nice mark, Tim Easterby has a few things in favour. Good luck
to all the contestants.
