Ballyridge Finn upsets Fraziers Vieri in 450m Grade A1 Heat at Poole on Jan 29
Ballyridge Finn upset the favourite, Fraziers Vieri, to clinch a surprise win in the 450 metre long Grade A1 Heat, hosted at Poole on Sunday, January 29, 2012.
Fraziers Vieri, trained by W J Black, was the most favourite hound, enjoying the winning chances of 11 to 4.
On the other side, there were three hounds, who were carrying the odds of 3 to 1.
While two of them grabbed last two positions on the chart, Ballyridge Finn, with 3 to 1 odds appeared as the star of the show.
After a nerve-wrecking contest, the black dog defeated Fraziers Vieri, by a short head’s margin.
The triumphant, Ninja Blue’s son out of Ballymac Just, hound reached the winning post in 27.09 seconds.
Only 0.01 seconds adrift of the champion, Fraziers Vieri finished second on the table. His covering time was 27.10 seconds.
A clear run earned Miss Crispys, the third place on the table. The fawn b***h was carrying the winning possibility of 4 to 1, stepping out on the track from the second stall.
While it was a neck to neck clash between the top-2, the third placed b***h remained behind by ¾ of a length.
The daughter of Dodgem By Design out of Musical Fancy, made it to the finishing line in 27.18 seconds.
Bit View Niamh, managed to finish fourth, with the covering time of 27.31 seconds.
The black b***h, holding the starting price of 12 to 1, was the least favourite in the competition.
However, she beat the remaining two hounds, thanks to her good clear run.
Quivers Valain got fifth place, whereas Jackbound completed the order of finish.
The duo was sent off with the chances of 3 to 1, each. However, they failed to make an impression.
D. G. Mitchell’s trainee earned fifth slot, crossing the wire in 27.32 second.
The back marker winded down the event in 27.48 seconds, a couple of lengths short of Quivers Valain.
It was Ballyridge Finn’s first victory after September, 2011. Since he finished last in his previous outing, he was not favourite according to the betting chart.
The D G Mitchell-trained hound would have delighted his connections by securing a surprise win.
