Balotelli to join Manchester City
Inter Milan striker, Mario Balotelli has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Manchester City after a deal between the two clubs was agreed to earlier. The transfer is going to be one of the biggest of the summer, which sees the talented but troubled young Italian move to Manchester, in hopes of getting a new start in a new place.
The transfer is believed to be valued at around 30 Million Euros which is set to rise depending on the amount of appearances and the success of the team. It has been reported the Balotelli is set to sign a long term contract, believed to be around 5 years.
The Italian has had a very difficult time at Inter, getting in trouble with the management and the fans on a number of occasions, most notably last season when he made a rude gesture towards the fans after a Champions League game. Balotelli went on to throw his shirt on the ground to show his disgust to fans who had booed his every touch after he came on.
The 20 year old is one of the brightest prospects to come out of Italy in recent years and is likely to prove his worth in the Premier League due to his pace, strength and skill. It remains unclear whether he will be able to keep his temper under control though, for which he has become infamous following a series of clashes with his coaches and fans.
Balotelli has left with Inter for a tour of the United States but that should not be seen as a sign that the transfer will not happen, after the player’s agent announced to the press that a statement on the player’s future would be released early in the week.
Although both clubs have mentioned that a deal could be agreed for the rights to the players, neither club has yet confirmed that a deal has been agreed. An official confirmation can’t be too far now though, since it is in both clubs interest to sort out the matter as soon as possible.
This could be Manchester City’s second signing in the space of a few days and the 6th overall in busy summer at the club. Lazio left-back Aleksandar Kolarov joined Manchester City earlier in a deal believed to be worth around 19 Million Pounds. The Serbian International is rated as one of the best left back in the world, and impressed at the World Cup. He will know all about Balotelli and will be eager to link up with the big man at his new club.
Kolarov has stated that he believes the Premier League to be the best in the world at this moment and that should be an additional incentive for Balotelli, who can improve substantially if he gets going. Although, the league offers many advantages, Manchester City’s huge squad is likely to prove to be a major disadvantage for the young Italian, with as many as six strikers in the club’s squad at the moment.
However, Balotelli would not have picked the club if he was not confident about his chances of making a place in the squad and the Italian has the necessary skill required to excel, it is just a matter of whether he will be patient enough to wait for his time to shine.
