Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariner trade Robert Andino, Trayvon Robinson - MLB News

The Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday afternoon traded infielder Robert Andino to Seattle Mariners and in exchange added outfielder Trayvon Robinson.
Trayvon will likely be added to left field as the Orioles were looking for an outfielder for just that spot.
The 25-year-old Robinson made his Major League debut in August of 2011 with the Seattle. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 10th round in 2005 out of Crenshaw High School. The Mariners acquired him from the Boston Red Sox in 2011.
Dan Duquette, the executive vice president of the baseball operations for the Orioles felt that Robinson could add some speed and depth to the outfield. Dan was also quite clear that Trayvon will have to improve his batting numbers.
"I think the important thing is [that] the club addressed the need in the outfield, the need for additional outfield depth," Duquette said. "It's a possibility [that we'll sign another outfielder], but in Trayvon Robinson we have an outfielder that has speed
and some power. He needs to improve his on-base capabilities."
Robinson so far has featured in 90 Major league games and has a batting average of .215 and a .272 On-base percentage. During the 2012 season, he played 46 games for the Mariners and posted a .221 average batting in 12 runs and going long on three occasions.
His time with the Triple-A Tacoma went better with a batting average of .265 and also managed 41 RBI’s and nine home-runs in 83 games.
Trayvon himself thinks that it will be a good opportunity for him to perform better. He believed that the birds will certainly give him some opportunities. "The Orioles, they want me. I feel like there's opportunity," he said. "All I'm asking for is a chance;
I think it'll be a better situation."
Seattle bound Robert Andino had a pretty good run with the Orioles. He played for the birds in a total of 127 games in 2012. He hit with a batting average of .211 with 28 RBI’s and seven home-runs. He served the team well as a second baseman. The 28-year-old
spent four Major League seasons with the Orioles.
The arrival of Alexi Casilla meant that the infield got further crowded, which also has names like Ryan Flaherty, Brian Roberts and Omar Quintanilla. Dan had some kind words for Andino, but at the same time, praised Casilla’s skills.
"Robert did a good job and helped us turn around the team," Duquette said of Andino, who is also arbitration-eligible and could have been non-tendered at the end of the month. "We appreciated that. Casilla has plus-plus range and plus-plus speed, which I
think is [beneficial] to the ballclub."
The moves could be useful for both the Orioles and the Mariners. The eventual effect will obviously be known once the next season kicks off.
