Baltimore Orioles’ Nolan Reimold on the right track in rehabilitation- MLB Update
Nolan Reimold, the Baltimore Orioles outfielder seems to be on the right path to be making it back to the Majors once the season kicks off in 2013. He is currently rehabilitating from a surgery on the herniated disc in his neck that kept him out of action
since April 30. The surgery took place in late June.
The 29-year-old is looking to get all clear on his fitness and wants to get back into is training routine soon.
“Things are progressing along really well,” he said. “Once I get the all clear, I’ll be able to start baseball activities.”
The outfielder was drafted by the Baltimore ball club in 2005 in the 2nd round of the Amateur draft and made his professional debut the same year with Class Short-Season A Aberdeen Iron Birds. Nolan played for several farm teams in the Orioles
system before breaking into the Majors in May of 2009.
Nolan downplayed talks that he was being moved to first base form the outfield and said that he had not been conveyed any such matter from the Orioles. He has never played on an infield position in the Majors and expects that at some point in time he may
also be used as a designated hitter. The whispers started after the Baltimore ball club signed Nate McLouth.
‘’I haven’t discussed anything like that. Nobody’s led me to believe I’ll be doing anything but playing the outfield with maybe some designated hitter mixed in,” Reimold said.
He is confident that he will be present when spring training gets underway and he will be giving it his all. “I feel like once spring training rolls around and the season starts, I’ll be 100 percent.”
He had a tremendous start to the season and had a.316 batting average and a .333 on-base percentage in 67 at-bats before the injury forced him out for the rest of the season. He managed 21 hits, scored 10 runs and batted in the same number of runs along
with five home-runs.
Reimold will be excited to just get back on the playing field with the Orioles and said that he enjoyed the team’s success despite of being on the sidelines. He was pleased with the birds moved forward as a unit.
"I wanted to be a part of it all, but I was happy for the team, happy for the fans who got to see a winning product on the field. It's great for the organization and the city going forward," Reimold said.
Nolan Reimold has shown a lot of promise and can be a long term prospect for the Orioles. It is important that he maintains his fitness and consistently performs for the betterment of himself and the team.
