Baltimore Orioles Ryan Flaherty on the holiday season- MLB News
Ran Flaherty is pleased to be back home after his stint with in the Dominican Winter League with the Leones del Escogido. He will be spending the winter holidays with his family in his hometown of Portland, Maine.
He spent a while in the Dominican Republic as the Orioles’ manager Buck Showalter wanted him to get some more at-bats in the offseason so that he can further enhance his skills.
Now that the stint in the winter ball league is over, Ryan feels that he has indeed improved with the experience. Flaherty is excited by the prospect of getting back on field in February for spring training.
The infielder has kept his holiday plans rather simple. He will be with his family in his hometown, hanging around with them and eating lots of his favourite foods.
‘’I'm going to spend it back in Portland with my family. Just hang out, eat tons of food and enjoy being around my family the little time I'm home. I enjoy Italian food the most,’’ Ryan told mlb.com in a pre-holiday season interview.
On an inquiry about the favourite gift he has ever gotten for the holidays, he said pointed out an old gift that he had received when he was only eight years old and was a part of his everyday routine for the next three years.
‘’I got an air hockey table when I was a kid, around 8 years old, and me and my brother played that every night for about three years straight,’’ Ryan said.
He added that he was unable to make a holiday wish list while he was in the Dominican Republic. He is, however, glad to be back and the main item on his wish list is a good time from February onwards and another strong performance in 2013 season for the
Baltimore Orioles.
‘’I wasn't able to make a Christmas list, being in the Dominican Republic, but [I'm] excited to get going in February and hopefully for another great season in 2013,’’ Flaherty said.
He has shown his keenness to be back on the field for the birds. Ryan will certainly be looking to give an improved show and make full use of his recent stint in the Dominican Republic. It this kind of spirit that the management of the Baltimore ball club
would appreciate and would like to see such commitment from all of its players.
Ryan is certainly in a great holiday spirit and is keen for success in the 2013 season. It would be something that isn’t just on his wish list but also the wish list of a large number of Orioles’ fans. We hope him and the Baltimore Orioles all the best for
the holiday season as well as 2013’s baseball season.
