Baltimore Orioles beat Cleveland Indians 7-3 at Camden Yards- MLB News

Baltimore Orioles beat the Cleveland Indians 7-3 on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Camden Yards. The win came at the back of a five-run fifth innings that put the result beyond any doubt.

Buck Showalter, the manager for the birds, was pleased with the result as his team was able to record a win in trying conditions, especially after the rain. There was a 78 minute rain delay during the game.
"I was real proud of everybody tonight. They jumped out there and our guys found a way to get some runs across," Showalter said.

There was some great hitting in the fifth innings by the O's which was greatly supported by not one but two fielding errors by the Indians' fielders.

Indians manager Terry Francona praised the Orioles for their good effort and said that while playing against a strong team, you cannot afford to commit errors the way his team did.

"It was a great game, and then it was a long night for us," Francona said. "We played a good team. Against a team like that, if you make a mistake, you'll pay for it."

Starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez had a decent day at the mound as he recorded his sixth win of the season. He pitched in nearly seven innings, surrendering three runs and striking out nine batters. He was able to control the proceedings despite being hit for
two solo home-runs. He currently maintains a 6-3 winning record in 2013.

Miguel said that he did not have the best of control in the start but settled down well later on. He was able to throw down the stuff he wanted to.

"I felt I was falling behind a little bit early, but then I settled down and worked with all the pitches I needed to, changing pitches, changing speeds to good hitters up and down," said Gonzalez.

It was a great win for the Baltimore Orioles who now are standing second in the American League East. They appear to be in a much better form after their four consecutive defeats recently. They now face New York Yankees  in a crucial series for the positioning
in the AL East.
