Baltimore Orioles’ beat Texas Rangers 3-1 at Orioles Park – MLB news
Baltimore Orioles beat the Texas Ranger 3-1 at the Orioles Park on Thursday, July 11, 2013 to share he honours of the series at two games apiece.
The game was dominated by strong pitching my Miguel Gonzalez who secured his seventh win of the season, pitching more than six innings and surrendering just a single run on four hits. His cause was helped by some brilliant work in the field by his team as
well.  
Miguel was not pleased with his control over his splitter but was happy of getting the curveballs right after the game. He was all praise for Matt Wieters who guided him well in the game from behind the home plate.
“I thought my splitter wasn't great today, but my curveball was there, and also my slider, so that helped me out,” said Gonzalez,. “[Catcher Matt Wieters] is a smart guy. He knows what he's doing, trying to keep guys off balance. I thought it was a great
game overall.”
The pitcher got some kind words from first baseman Chris Davis as well who praised his skills and his performance against the Texas ballclub.  
“He's a guy that we all know how special he is and how good he can be, and he proved that tonight,” Davis said.
It was a good game offensively as well for the birds with two of the three runs coming through long balls. Chris Davis was able to get amongst hits again with a home-run in the bottom of the second. He was followed by Brian Roberts in the third.  The third
and final run for the O’s came courtesy of an RBI single by Nate McLouth in the eighth innings.
Orioles’ manager Buck Showalter was particularly delighted by the performance by Brian Roberts, who made a return after a long injury layoff and got a home-run as well as making a crucial play for the team. Buck said that the team missed the reliable second
baseman.  
“It's nice, period,” Showalter said.”A big hit. Brian turned a big double play for us with a guy right on top of him. He can be a contributor for us, and a big contributor. We missed him.”
The Orioles are making their way back after losing four out of five games to New York Yankees and Texas Rangers. A continuation in wins will certainly help their cause at the end of the season.
