Baltimore Orioles continued their impressive run as they beat Washington Nationals 6-5 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C on Saturday, May 19 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Robert Andino had a great time on the plate as he singled to left in the second to to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead. Adam Jones and Nick Markakis had another great outing as they both homered in third and the fifth respectively to give the Orioles complete
control of the contest. The National put up a solid fight in the closing stages but they Orioles hung on to beat them.
"Early in the year, with men in scoring position, I was rushing. I had strikeouts, popouts with men in scoring position. I needed to back away from it, and let the ball come to me and see the ball. Lately, I've been trying to see the ball, use my hands and
not really try to think too much about the play because thinking, hitters are never supposed to think," Jones said in an interview.
"That would be awesome," Jones said. "My main mission every time I step into that box is hit this ball as hard as you can hit it."
The Orioles had another incredible outing this season as they rallied past the Nationals to improve their record to 6-5. Baltimore’s fans will be extremely thrilled with what they have seen from their team this season. Not many of us had predicted the Orioles
to have 27 wins under their belt after playing just 41 games.
Buck Showalter and company have the ability to dig deep for their wins. The Orioles, once again, showed great fighting capabilities, mental toughness and desire to win as they held on to their slim lead in the ninth to take a decisive 2-0 lead in the series.
It will not be wrong to say that the Orioles are one of the top teams in the American League right now but they will have to give results on regular basis to make it to the World Series finals.
