Baltimore Orioles beaten by Toronto Blue Jays 4-6 – MLB Update
Baltimore Orioles were unable to live up to expectation as they lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 4-6 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario on Wednesday, September 5 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez paid the ultimate price for his errors on the mound as he gave up seven hits and five runs in just over six innings to take his fourth loss of the season. Relief pitcher Luis Ayala also struggled to control the flow of runs,
allowing two hits and a run.
"We played a good ballgame tonight, things just didn't go our way," right-hander Miguel Gonzalez said.
"It was just good execution," Orioles’ manager Buck Showalter said in a post game interview. "(They) execute it right, there's not a whole lot you can do."
Gonzalez has given some decent performances this season. Surely, he will be looking to bounce back strongly on his next appearance to impress Manager Buck Showalter.
Adam Jones provided Orioles with an excellent start as he homered to left in the second inning to put his side on the board. Rookie Manny Machado continued to impress the critics as he grounded out to second in the second inning to double Baltimore’s lead
to 2-0.
Mark Reynolds homered to left centre in the bottom of the ninth to keep Orioles’ hopes alive but the Blue Jays were too hot to handle at their home ballpark.
"It's fun, I'm looking forward to it," Orioles’ slugger Mark Reynolds said. "This whole weekend should be a great time."
"We just hope this could be the next winning streak for us," Rajai Davis said. "A long one, not a short one."
Orioles will be extremely disappointed with the outcome of the game. After beating Toronto comprehensively in first two games, they had an excellent chance to complete a deserving series sweep to preserve their top status on the American League East Division
standings table but the Blue Jays turned things around just at the right time to avoid another embarrassing defeat in front of their home crowd.
