Baltimore Orioles defeat Boston Red Sox 4-3 – MLB Recap
Baltimore Orioles beat the Boston Red Sox 4-3 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, September 29 at Oriole Park in Baltimore.
Orioles did well in all areas of play and showed great energy. They played as one unit and rattled Red Sox with ease.
"Calmness, We're playing with house money. We're not supposed to be here. We're just a bunch of kids having fun. We go out every night believing we're going to win the game, no matter what the situation and no matter who we're facing. It's just fun to be a part of," said Orioles first baseman Mark Reynolds.
From their batters to pitchers, every player contributed their part in the Orioles' big win.
Relief pitcher Chris Davis played beautifully for the Orioles as he scored two runs and smashed two hits along with two important RBIs. He showed his class and batted well on his three outings on the plate.
"It's an honor to sit there and watch it and marvel at what these guys can do, especially when certain things start snowballing, And you create your karma. These guys have done a good job of doing that, and they're expecting good things to happen," manager Buck Showalter said.
Davis hammered the Red Sox pitchers with big hits and managed to maintain his slugging percentage at .489.
Third baseman Manny Machado scored one while he smashed two hits along with two RBIs. He kept the Red Sox pitchers under pressure and maintained his slugging percentage at .470.
Orioles' pitchers managed to put in a tremendous performance to help guide their side to a decent victory over the Red Sox.
Baltimore's entire rotation showed great energy and defeated the Red Sox in style.
Starting pitcher Steve Johnson pitched five innings and received three runs and four hits along with a homer. He retired three while his ERA remained consistent at 2.11.
On the other hand, the Red Sox pitchers played under pressure and lost in the end.
Felix Doubront pitched seven innings and received four runs and gave seven hits along with two big homers. Though he retired 10 but his overall pitching could not save the game for the Red Sox.
