Baltimore Orioles defeat Los Angeles Angels 8-4 at Angel Stadium to end West Coast road trip

The Baltimore Orioles had a successful road trip that comprised of 12 games against three different opponents with the birds prevailing 8-4 over the opponents after they beat the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium by a margin of 8-4.
It also means that the Orioles maintain their strong position in the American League East where they are just a game and a half behind leaders Boston Red Sox.
Orioles scored in the first but the Angels stuck back with three runs in the same inning. The birds, however, kept their calm and did not let the game get out of their hands.
Baltimore scored two in the fourth with the help of a two-run home-run by J.J. Hardy. The Orioles further scored two runs in the fifth with a Manny Machado long ball.
The game was in the eighth when Chris Davis drove in an RBI single and then Ryan Flaherty had a two-run RBI single.
Jason Hammel was the starting pitcher who picked up the win and was pleased with the performance. He expressed the view that the team’s hard work was already bearing fruit despite it being a relatively early time in the season.
"We're going to grind it out. We're going to battle. It's nice to be a part of, because all of our hard work that went into it so far has already come to fruition this early in the season," said Hammel.
This was his fifth win for the season and he currently stands at an impressive 5-1 winning record.
Buck Showalter was also pleased by the fact that Jason did not give it away after being hit for three runs in the first inning. He believed that this is something he has learned over a period of time and Jason of the past may have given it up.
Manny Machado was quite happy at the end of the day. He felt that the whole team was performing and there was no dependence on any single player in the team. He felt that the team was making the right moves in areas which are often overlooked as this is
helping their cause.
"No matter what the situation is, we come up with something big, whether it's laying down a bunt or getting the runners over like Nicky did. We got CD up and he gets a big hit. Little things like that that people don't notice. That's something that we all
do on this team," Machado said.
The result in this game and the overall road trip was certainly a good one for the O’s. They will like to carry their form into the upcoming games and try to move up the ranks in the AL East.
