Baltimore Orioles defeat Philadelphia Phillies 6-4 – MLB Recap
The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 6-4 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, June 9 at Oriole Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
With this win, the Orioles have also levelled the series 1-1 with one game to spare on Sunday on the same venue. The first game of the series was won by the Phillies 9-6.
Centre fielder Adam Jones played wonderful in this particular game and helped the Orioles win the crucial game. He not only played well with one run and two RBIs but he also saved the game for his team.
Later in the game, media personals rushed towards him and started asking questions from Jones. Jones replied with confidence and said for his own and for his team’s effort, "Oh, my gosh! Getting a little frustrated there, One thing I'm not going to do is stop swinging the bat. It's part of who I am; it's the reason I got to the big leagues. I think we like to play a lot longer than the nine innings.”
He added with more confidence and talked in detail about all the different aspects of the game which his team won in style, “I think we're on the pace to play the most innings by any team this year. Hey, that's part of the game. If we don't win it in nine, hopefully we can win it in 12, 15 or 17. We'll sit here and play 25 as long as we get the W."
Along with Jones, the Orioles starter Tommy Hunter also played a handy role in his team’s win as he pitched seven innings and received only three runs.
Though he maintained his 5.40 ERA but still his overall fast balls made possible for the Orioles to oust the Phillies.
On the other hand, the Phillies starter Vance Worley played poorly. He could not save the game for his team instead; gave too much waivered deliveries and hit for three runs and five hits.
Now, with this win, the Orioles are standing at quite comfortable position in the American League East Division with 33-29 along with .559 winning percentage.
