Baltimore Orioles defeated Oakland Athletics 5-2 – Major League Recap
The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Oakland Athletics 5-2 in their three-match regular series of 2012 Major League Baseball season on Sunday, April 29 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland.
The Orioles, from start to end, played a balanced game and outplayed the A’s in second consecutive game of their three-game regular series encounter.
Third baseman Wilson Betemit played brilliantly throughout the bottom two innings of the game and paved solid ground for his team’s win.
Betemit said with much jubilation and explained the little factors behind of this kind of tremendous performance, "We got a team where everybody pulls together, everybody knows how to play, knows how to win, and that's what we do. I don't know the ball is
gone, I just hit the ball, and I tried to put it in play."
Betemit was exceptionally great when he hammered a three-run homer in the ninth innings and provided his team a very good victory over struggling Athletics.
The A’s Matt Wieters also played a handy role in his team’s win as he made double in two-run in slog in ninth innings on which short stop J.J. Hardy and centre fielder Adam Jones made runs giving their team a well deserted win ahead of New York Yankees three-game
series.
Team manager Buck Showalter said, "It beats the alternative, it’s like the right side of the earth. I just like seeing a lot of our guys getting a return for what they've been putting into it from a team standpoint."
The Orioles starting pitcher Tommy Hunter was also looking in good shape. He was feeling excited on the mound and pitched with great accuracy for five first innings allowing no run, however early in the sixth and seventh, the A’s did able to score two runs.
Hunter finished allowing a run along with only run runner, who passed first base on his pitching. The A’s new power house and former Cuban International Yoenis Cespedes played his little part, but it was still a lame performance from his side as he could
not stop the Orioles rally past the Oakland’s baseball side.
