Baltimore Orioles defeated by Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 – MLB Spring Training

Baltimore Orioles were defeated by Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 at the Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida on March 20 in their Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
Roy Halladay, who had a poor time on the mound last week, displayed some high quality pitching skills as he gave up just one run and three hits in six innings. In a game against Minnesota Twins last week, he gave up five runs and seven hits in just over
two innings. Striking out five and walking one on Tuesday, he showed his poor performances were a fluke.
"It doesn't make you happy. I can tell you that," Halladay said.
"There's a fine line between knowing what you need to accomplish and trying to prove a point or be too competitive or be caught up in it. That's something you try and learn to be aware of. It bothers you, but ultimately, you've got to keep in mind what's
going on and ultimately what you're trying to accomplish." "We have enough good players. We don't need a superstar every day. We need consistency and do the job that we're supposed to do,"
Another Phillies’ player suffered from an injury as Michael Martinez broke a bone in his right foot. Although Martinez stayed in the game to score the go ahead run, he is likely to miss the remaining games of Spring Training.
After making a poor start to their Spring Training campaign, the Phillies were hoping to restore some of their lost pride with a powerful performance against the Orioles. Showing their composure and ability to handle the pressure, the Phillies put their
rivals under pressure right from the word go. With their win over the Orioles, the Phillies have now improved their spring win-loss record to 4-1 and it will be interesting to see if they can end the spring on a high note.
The Orioles will be extremely disappointed with their ordinary effort. Baltimore’s hitters were unable to convert some easy scoring opportunities during the contest, which played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash.
