Baltimore Orioles edge Chicago White Sox 3-2 – MLB Update
Baltimore Oriole continued to get the better of Chicago White Sox as they secured a hard fought 3-2 win at the U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday, April 17 in game two of the their four match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Orioles’ pitcher Wei Yin Chen had an absolutely great time on the mound as he pitched six strong innings. Overall, Chen allowed two runs and six hits in his second MLB game. The starter did a reasonable job against New York Yankees as well, giving up two earned runs in just over five innings on his debut start.
Nolan Reimold displayed some high quality hitting skills to hit his fourth straight home run to help the Baltimore Orioles edge Chicago 3-2.
"I'd like two pitches back," John Danks said. "I felt like I made a good-enough pitch to Andino for the single. I just made a mistake to a pretty hot hitter in Reimold. Got in a hitter's count with Hardy. He's a good hitter. He did what he's supposed to do with that pitch."
"Just staying calm," said Reimold, who also made a terrific diving catch in left field. "No real secret to it. It's just kind of happening. Just been feeling good, keeping my swing short and not moving my head too much."
With their win on Tuesday night, the Orioles took an impassable 2-0 lead in the series. Although they are not considered as one of the strongest teams in MLB, Baltimore certainly have the capability to surprise even the best in the business.
With an impressive 7-4 record, the Orioles have everything to play for this season. While lifting the World Series trophy may not be easy for them, they have a great chance of making it to the American League East championships. It will be interesting to see if the Orioles can continue their domination throughout the series to complete sweep of Chicago.
The White Sox, who put up some solid numbers in their series against Detroit Tigers, will be looking to bounce back strongly in third game of the series. If they can start learning from their mistakes, the White Sox will surely have the opportunity to tie the series.
