Baltimore Orioles having superb season to win back the fans’ hearts – MLB Update
Baltimore Orioles have surprised many with their first half of 2012 Major League Baseball results. If someone had come up to you in April and told you that the Orioles will end the first half of season five games over the .500 win percentage mark, you would
have probably laughed at him.
It seems the Orioles are finally putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Their last World Series triumph came in 1983. Right now, the Orioles are placed second on the big bad American League East Division and credit should be given to the Manager Buck
Showalter for using his resources to perfection.
What the Orioles have managed to achieve this season is already having a huge impact on the players in the Minor League. The youngsters are feeling energised and they want to work even harder to secure a place on club’s big league roster.
"I think about it all the time," Minor League shortstop Manny Machado said. "This organization used to be really good when they had guys like Brooks Robinson and Cal Ripken Jr., and it's turning around. The team is playing well, they have a good manager
in Buck Showalter. ... We feel it down in the system. It's a winning vibe from the major leagues to the Rookie league. It makes you want to win all that much more."
If the season ends today, the Orioles would be the second wild card team. However, considering there are still plenty of games to be played, Showalter and company will have to make sure they keep winning games on a regular basis.
Above all, Baltimore needs to discover a method to win against New York Yankees and Texas Rangers, who are the most successful teams this season. New York is sitting at the top of American League East Division whereas the Rangers are leading the American
League West Division.
If the Orioles do make it the playoffs, they are likely to face one of these two teams. It will be a challenge for them to find winning ways against these two giants of MLB but the Orioles have already shown us that they have the firepower to beat even the
best in the business.
