Baltimore Orioles humiliated by Texas Rangers 3-12 – MLB Update
Baltimore Orioles were annihilated by the Texas Rangers 3-12 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Wednesday, August 22 in the finale of their three match series.
Nick Markakis had a decent outing as he drove in majority of Orioles’ runs on Wednesday. However, apart from him none of Baltimore’ hitters could live up to the expectations.
For the Rangers, Adrian Beltre had an incredible night with the bat as he hit three towering home-runs to give his side complete control of the situation.
"I've been kind of struggling for a couple of weeks," Beltre said. "I've been working in the cages trying to find a comfort zone with my feet and hands.
"I'm trying to hit a home run," Beltre said. "I got a pitch to hit, too, but I couldn't do it."
"It was a fantastic night," manager Ron Washington said. "I was hoping for him to get a fourth one also, but it didn't work."
Orioles’ starting pitcher Tommy Hunter was hit hard by the Rangers’ offensive outburst as he gave up eight hits and eight runs in three wavered innings to take his eighth loss of the season. Rest of the pitching rotation also struggled to contain Texas’
red hot batting line-up.
"He made a lot of mistakes," Orioles’ manager Buck Showalter said. "And they make him pay for it."
With their win on Wednesday, the Rangers also secured an emphatic series win. Right now, Ron Washington and his men are placed first on the American League West Division standings, five games ahead of second placed Oakland Athletics.
However, they will be looking to bring some more consistency in their game-play to have a better chance of reaching the playoffs.
Rangers dominated Baltimore in almost all aspects of the game. Their offensive play was far more superior to their opponents.
Orioles, on the other hand, will be very disappointed with the outcome of the series. Losing to the Rangers, they have also been replaced by the Tampa Bay Rays for second place on AL East standings. Manager Buck Showalter and his men will be looking to dig
in deep to get back into the playoffs race.
