Baltimore Orioles infielder Manny Machado was their secret weapon- MLB News
Manny Machado, the sensational rookie infielder for the Baltimore Orioles’ rise was no fluke and the birds had planned his transition from the Minor to the Major League, it was revealed by recently appointed third base coach for the Orioles Bobby Dickerson.
The Orioles had kept it under wraps as the ball club did not want to give it away early. "The way we went about it, we tried to have multiple guys go over to third base [with Double-A Bowie] so it didn't look like it was just Manny. I would have early work
with a couple of guys. Jonathan Schoop would be over there, and we would do drills and stuff," Bobby said.
Manny Machado made headlines after he homered twice in his second Major League game in identical fashion. He was impressive both with the bat and the glove. He took the third base as well as the shortstop positions in the Orioles and will most likely be
manning the third base in 2013 season.
O’s manager Buck Showalter praised Bobby Dickerson for a smooth transition of Manny to the big leagues. Bobby decided to take the lime light away from him and transferred it to the young infielder, praising his ability to quickly get a hold of things. He
also showed his gratitude to a number of others who played a part in Manny’s growth.
"I'd love to take all the credit. Manny is just a heck of a player," Dickerson said. "He grabbed things so quickly. You say it once, and he got it. It's just a testament to him. And a bunch of other people helped out. Denny Hocking did nice job. Gary Kendall,
Brian Graham. When he first signed, he was with Ryan Minor, who was a third baseman with the Orioles."
The Baltimore Orioles have found an able infielder in Manny Machado who should do well for the team in the future. Bobby Dickerson has also proven to be an asset and his good work in the Minor League has seen him promoted to the Majors. Under Buck Showalter
and with the right people in the right spots, the birds seem to be moving in the right direction.
