Baltimore Orioles looking forward to fit Roberts, Reimold and Chen- MLB Update
Baltimore Orioles’ second baseman, Brian Roberts and outfielder Nolan Reimold, are nicely on their way to recovery from their injuries and the birds appear to be confident of having them back in the lineup soon.
Manager Buck Showalter was pleased by the progress that was shown by Brian Roberts who accompanied the team to Toronto for the series against the Blue Jays. He said that the 35-year-old looked pretty good.
"Brian is coming back with us tonight," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "He looked pretty good."
Brian has had injury troubles in the recent times and has failed to pl-ay out a full season for quite a while now. He is now taking part in various running drills and also had his first batting practice since the injury with a
positive result. If the recovery remains on trail, he should be joining one of the Orioles’ Minor League teams for a rehab stint to get game ready.
The news on the 29-year-old outfielder Nolan Reimold is also pretty good and has now played 6 consecutive games for the Bowie Bay Sox, the Double-A affiliate for the Baltimore Orioles. His form has not been as good as he would
have liked but he is getting some much needed time in the field.
Buck knows that he is a little rusty and not ready to make a comeback to the big leagues. His 1-for-17 with seven strikeouts is not great. However, he is all set to move to the Triple-A Norfolk Tides soon.
"He's a little rusty, but he's getting there," Showalter said. "His leg feels good ... [but] he's not ready yet."
New is also good on Wei-Yin Chen who may make a comeback before the All-Star game and get a chance to op-en a game or two for the O’s. Out since May 12 for an oblique strain, Chen will be throwing four simulated innings to see
the level of fitness. Should things continue, he will be back on the field pretty soon.
It is important that the birds get back in full strength soon. They are doing pretty well at the moment but can certainly do better with all the top players fit and playing.
