Baltimore Orioles lose to New York Yankees 3-4 – MLB Recap
The Baltimore Orioles lost to New York Yankees 3-4 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, September 1 at Yankee Stadium in New York City.
Yankees played brilliantly during the entire game and won in style.
“You don't look at the standings, If we play well, we'll be fine. If you win, they say experience helps, If you lose, they say you don't have enough youth." Yankees' skipper Derek Jeter said on his team’s performance.
Robinson Cano did well on the plate and scored one run and smashed one hit along with an RBI on his .546 slugging percentage. He remained calm and rattled the Orioles with great force.
Steve Pearce also batted well on his two at-bats as he added one run and one hit on his .410 slugging percentage.
Jayson Nix added one and maintained his slugging percentage at .408.
Designated hitter Eduardo Nunez scored one run and smashed one hit on his three at-bats. He also played well and maintained his slugging percentage at .370.
Along with batters, Yankees' talented pitchers also played well and supported their team with great energy.
David Phelps pitched 4.2 innings and allowed three runs and three hits on his consistent 3.13 ERA. He struck-out three and played with huge confidence.
Relief pitcher Boone Logan also did well on the mound and pitched two innings. He allowed one hit and maintained his ERA at 3.72.
"I think he's the best shortstop in the league. I do, I don't even think twice about it, A lot of people bend, but don't break, It's not one of those things that we're going to dwell on. This could have been. That should have been. That would have been," Orioles' manager Buck Showalter said later in the game.
On the other hand, Orioles' pitchers did not play well and lost the game with bitter humiliation.
Wei-Yin Chen proved disastrous as he pitched 6.2 innings and allowed one run and four hits. He struck-out four while his ERA rose to 3.79 with blistering pace.
