Baltimore Orioles set to celebrate New Year’s Eve with fans in grand style- MLB News
The Baltimore Orioles have been an active in making their positive contributions to the community and they intend to continue just that on the New Year’s Eve. They will be sponsoring the area’s largest New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, the Mayor of Baltimore is excited about the event and believes it’s a way to celebrate not just the New Year’s arrival but also the good work done by the ball club in 2012. She also said that it will be a perfect way of starting
the 2013 season preparations.
"After a thrilling 2012 season, the Baltimore Orioles are preparing to start 2013 off right with an exciting New Year's Eve celebration for everyone," Rawlings-Blake said. "New Year's Eve is another great opportunity for the citizens of Baltimore to celebrate
with their beloved team, and its commitment to this great American city."
The mayor also hoped that it would not be snowing that day. The event will have musical performances and is expected to attract a 100,000 people to the Baltimore Inner Harbour. The new year’s eve also has economic considerations attached to it and is expected
to generate activity worth $7 million in the city.
The ball club is an active participant of noble causes in the area. Recently, the hosted around 80 school children and hosted lunch for them and gave them gifts as a part of the holiday celebrations. Many of the current and former Orioles’ players were present
to grace the occasion.
Greg Bader, the ball club’s vice president for communication and marketing also spoke about the event, pleased with the fact that the O’s were playing their part for the community.
"The Orioles are proud to partner with Baltimore city to sponsor the New Year's Eve Celebration," said Greg Bader. "Through Orioles REACH, we always look for ways to partner with our community, and after a successful 2012 season, this celebratory event will
be the perfect start to what we expect will be an exciting year ahead."
Greg also predicted that the event with the birds will be really exciting and this year will be better than ever.
The ball club experienced a resurgence in 2012 and made it to their first post-season after 1997 and also had their first winning season in the same time. The fans encouraged by the performance flocked in the Camden Yards and supported their team, breaching
the two million attendance mark in the home games during the regular season.
Such an event will be great for the residents of the area as well as the Orioles who will be celebrating with their very fans. One hopes that the event is a success and the 2013 season brings more joy to the fans and the players alike.
