Baltimore Orioles show interest in free agent Manny Ramirez – MLB News
The Baltimore Orioles are showing some interest to sign free agent Manny Ramirez who previously has taken retirement for testing positive on PED fearing a 100 game ban in the 2011 Major League season.
Though he is retired from the game but later in December applied for reinstatement that somehow was accepted by the MLB as league authorities did say whenever he will return or signed by any team, he will face a 50-game ban.
However, despite all these frictions in his career, interested teams are looking positive for a good future ahead. Even Ramirez has recently stated in the media that he did feel little bad about what had happened in the past and now he will try not to repeat
those mistakes again.
He said, “Every day that goes by I regret the decisions I made by following bad advice. We are human, we make mistakes. We are not perfect. Everybody deserves a chance to show he has changed.”
Since Ramirez has received permission to play again in the League, the only team who has showed interest officially is the Orioles.
Earlier, the Orioles’ executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette has commented on Ramirez and his potential arrival in the franchise.
Duquette said, “Manny's an interesting guy. He's interesting to the fans. And he can hit. Or he could hit. I don't know if he still can. He wants another opportunity. He's trying hard to get one."
Ramirez, an 18-year Major League veteran, who has played for the Cleveland Indians along with Boston Red, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays, possesses some huge talent and in the upcoming days he will be playing for another top team
in the League.
Due to PED charges, Ramirez was only able to play five games for the Tampa Bay Rays where he had a .059 hitting average along with a single RBI and .059 OBP. Looking at his career .312 hitting average with 555 home-runs, 1831 RBIs and .411 OBP also makes
him  a talented free agent in the 2011 market.
If the Orioles are really serious about signing Manny Ramirez, they will be looking to plan early especially before anyone else makes a potential offer to him or his agent.
