Baltimore Orioles’ success trickling down Minor League system – MLB Update
Placed second on the American League East Division before the All-Star Break, Baltimore Orioles are having an excellent 2012 season.
It will not be wrong to say that they have surpassed their fans' expectations with their impressive win-loss record in the first half of the season. Credit should be given to the Manager Buck Showalter for using his hitting and pitching resources superbly.
Orioles' success is also having a huge impact on their Minor League system. Future Orioles including two top prospects believe that success is trickling down into the Minors, where the players are feeling a lot more confident about themselves. After what's
happened with the big league club, the youngsters are energised by the fresh air.
"It has for everybody," pitcher Dylan Bundy told MLB.com in Kansas City. "That just drives me that much more to get up there someday and do something to help them."
"I think about it all the time," Shortstop Manny Machado said. "This organization used to be really good when they had guys like Brooks Robinson and Cal Ripken Jr., and it's turning around. The team is playing well, they have a good manager in Buck Showalter.
... We feel it down in the system. It's a winning vibe from the major leagues to the Rookie league. It makes you want to win."
Many of the Minor League players are working even harder to secure a place on Baltimore's big league roster. The competition in the upcoming years is going to be fierce but it is the only way the Orioles can fill the squad with the finest talent. Above all,
it is what the fans want to see, basically more variety and consistency.
Right now, the Orioles are having a decent season and it will be interesting to see if they can win the AL East title for the first time since 1997.With New York Yankees also making quick work of their opponents, of course it will not be easy but the Orioles
do have an excellent chance to surprise their critics by reaching the post season. It will be interesting to see the Orioles improve their performance and become more competitive in the second half of the regular season.
