Baltimore Orioles suffer 1-13 hammering against Los Angeles Angels – MLB Update
Baltimore Orioles suffered series sweep at the hands of Los Angeles Angels as they took a 1-13 hammering at Oriole Park in Camden Yards, Baltimore on Wednesday, June 27 in the second game of their two match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular
season.
Angels looked in outstanding form on Wednesday evening in a game that turned out to be completely one sided. Los Angeles’ offence was their real strength as it made the most of scoring opportunities to stack up a huge total on the board.
Orioles’ starting pitcher Jason Hammel had a frightening outing as he gave up eight runs and eight hits in just over three innings. His ERA also rocketed from 2.61 to 3.29 following his poor performance.
"Good-hitting ballclub, not necessarily power but just putting it in play," Hammel said of the Angels. "They're going to put the bat on the ball and put it in play somewhere, and that's what happened tonight."
"Look at how we've been hitting the ball over the last five or six days," manager Mike Scioscia said. "Not only are we hitting the ball for power and slugging percentage, but we have also been moving them around. Right now, you're starting to see a team
that is coming into its own and beginning to play at a high level."
Without a shadow of a doubt, the Angels have some of the best hitters and pitchers in their squad as the consistency they have shown over the last couple of weeks is a dangerous sign for Texas Rangers. The team is currently leading the American League West
Division.
Torii Hunter provided the Angles with an excellent start as he homered to left in the first inning to put his team 1-0 ahead. Adam Jones scored the only run for the Orioles with an RBI single to left in the first inning that levelled score 1-1.
Right-fielder Hunter played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash as he drove in four runs. Mike Trout finished the game with four hits and three runs and Kendrys Morales also had four RBIs and three hits. The Angels will be very happy with their
performance as they managed to dominate the Orioles from the start.
