Baltimore Orioles thrash Chicago White Sox 10-4 – MLB Update
Baltimore Orioles thrashed Chicago White Sox 10-4 at the U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois on Monday, April 16 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
The way the Orioles stunned the White Sox is a clear indication of the comfort level they are feeling right now. Matt Wieters hit two home runs including a tenth inning grand slam to help the Orioles come back from behind to clinch a thriller.
Trailing 1-4 in the eight, it seemed the contest was over but Baltimore hit three home runs against the pair of Chicago’s relievers to change the complexion of the game.
"We've been battling every game pretty close," Wieters said. "It's nice to have a big inning to kind of put some things together."
"I think it was almost like letting out some frustration," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "All the things we helped them out with."
"We didn't quit," said Adam Jones who has hit three home runs on his last four MLB appearances. "Once we went to extra innings, we knew that this was our game. I'm still pretty pumped right now."
The Orioles have looked in exciting form since the start of the regular season. Showing great composure, fighting spirit and temperament, they made an aggressive start to their four match series with the White Sox.
The White Sox, on the other hand, have no one to blame except for themselves. They had plenty of opportunities to wrap up the contest but they were unable to deliver the goods. The White Sox, who have an ordinary 5-4 record, will be hoping to turn the tables
on their opponents in second game of the series. It will be interesting to see if they succeed in their ambitions.
With their win over Chicago on Monday night, the Orioles improved their record to 6-4. After making a slow start to their regular season campaign, it seems they are finally putting pieces of the puzzle together.
However, the job is not done as yet. The Orioles will have to prove that they can produce similar performances on regular basis if they want to earn respect of their fans.
