Baltimore Orioles thrash Toronto Blue Jays 5-2 – MLB Update
Baltimore Orioles thrashed Toronto Blue Jays 5-2 at the Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland on Thursday, April 26 in third and final game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Orioles displayed some high quality baseball skills in a game that was played on a very aggressive note. Both teams adopted a very attacking approach but it was the Orioles who eventually came out on top to win the series.
Adam Jones looked in commanding form at the plate and his tie breaking home run in the eighth lifted the Orioles to an emphatic victory.
"If the situation calls for it, I'm not going to shy away from it. ... I'm just looking for something out over the plate. Not necessarily a first-pitch slider away, but I was looking for a heater up, something to drive. I was able to just get enough of it
to hit it out," Jones said in an interview.
"I just wish we could have got (Matusz) a W. ... But we won as a team and he understands that," he further added. "He went out and threw six very, very, very good innings."
Baltimore has looked outstanding form since the start of their series with the Blue Jays. Executing their game plan to perfection, Buck Showalter and his men made the most of available opportunities in all three games. Around 14000 fans present at the stadium
loved what they saw on Thursday evening as the Orioles made their opponents pay heavily for their unforced errors.
Blue Jays, on the other hand, appeared to have no answers. It seems they are short of confidence right now as they missed some easy scoring opportunities during the contest. The season has just begun and John Farrell and company will be looking to cash in
with solid performances in their future fixtures.
Toronto has remained one of the weaker teams in American League for the past decade or so. Their last World Series title came in 1993 and it will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays can lift their spirits to give their fans what they have been waiting
for.
